1.0 OBJECTIVE :
  • To describe the procedure for entering data in log book of instruments on daily basis.
2.0 SCOPE :
  • This procedure is applicable to all laboratory instruments used in Quality Control Department.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY :
  • Quality Control Chemist, Microbiologist and above
4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY:
  • Quality Control Head
5.0 PROCEDURE :

5.1 Get issued the usage log book for every instrument from Quality Assurance department.

5.2 Keep usage log book near to respective instrument for easy available.

5.3 Enter the details such as product name, batch number and test in respective instrument log book (as per annexure) during operation of instrument.

5.4 Enter start and end time of usage of instrument for respective product and test.

5.5 Put signature after completion of use of instrument in ‘Performed By’ column.

5.6 Write remark if any breakdown or any abnormal behavior of instrument is observed during usage of instrument, otherwise keep ‘ –  ’ but do not keep blank.

5.7 QC officer/ Executive will check and verify the usage log book entries and then sign in ‘Checked by’ column.

5.8 Do not make corrections or changes in the approved format of log book.

5.9 Performs the following steps when making a correction to a manually recorded entry in a log book.

  • Place a single line through the incorrect entry.
  • Enter the correct entry near the original entry.
  • The mistake must still be readable through the cross-out.
  • Put signature side to mistake.

5.10 Submit the logbooks to QA Department on yearly basis.

5.11 Maintain the Logbooks for five years.

5.12 The usage log books of following instruments/ equipment’s are prepared and maintained.
